Sony Ericsson P1i BlackBerry Compatible Smartphone


Sony has launched Sony Ericsson P1i mobile phone in India which is a slim Dual Mode UMTS, triple band GPRS/GSM BlackBerry compatible smartphone featuring 2.6-inch touchscreen TFT QVGA display, QWERT keyboard, 3.2 Megapixels camera, media player, FM radio and built-in Wi-Fi connection.
The new Sony Ericsson P1i smartphone is a dual-mode communicator which offers UMTS 2100 MHz and tri-band GSM/GPRS 900/1800/1900 MHz with a 2.6-inch (41 x 56 mm) 240×320 pixels resolution TFT Touch Screen display capable of displaying 256K colors and is handwriting recognation capable.
The Sony Ericsson P1i smartphone features a dual-function QWERTY keyboard, integrated RSS reader capability, full HTML Opera mobile browser, Bluetooth v2.0 with A2DP stereo audio support for untethered playback of MP3/AAC audio. The supported audio formats includes MP3, AAC, AAC+, E-AAC+, WAV and m4a and there are no limitations on bit rates.
Instead of a full QWERTY keyboard, the Sony Ericsson P1i has all the letters and numbers in a total of 20 keys organized in qwert like scheme. Each of these keys handles two letters, one is chosen depending on the angle that one tap it - tilted left or right. For example, the top left key is used for both the Q and W letters. The center portion of the keypad has numbers laid out just like a standard numeric keypad on mobile phones.
On the rear side, Sony Ericsson P1i handset has 3.2 Megapixel digital camera having 2048 x 1536 pixels resolution which offers upto 3X continuous digital zoom, autofocus, and built-in LED flash. The camera is also capable of capturing live video with sound in sub-QCIF/H.263 format. A second a forward facing VGA resolution camera allows video calling.
The Sony Ericsson P1i smartphone is fully 3G enabled which supports the full range of 3G functionality, including video calling as well as fast internet access.
Ultra-slim in design, the Sony Ericsson P1i smartphone comes with 160-MB of internal memory and it also offers support for Memory Stick Micro (M2) for expanding storage. The handset is being offered with 1-GB card for free.
Sony Ericssons P1i smartphone feature the Symbian 9.1 OS and UIQ 3.0 interface with support for a wide range of push email for business users including BlackBerry Connect, Seven, Vista, and many others.
The new Sony Ericsson P1i is equipped with every possible current connectivity features including GPRS Class 10, HSCSD, Bluetooth v2.0, Wi-Fi 802.11b Wireless connection, Infrared port, USB 2.0 port and 3G functionality. The Blurtooth with A2DP supports allows connecting a wireless stereo headset to it for music playback.
Being designed for business-orientated applications, the Sony Ericsson P1i comes ready with software to read and edit standard office documents and a PDF reader. In addition it also features a unique Business Card Scanner which uses the integrated camera together with OCR software to store digital versions of business cards in phone contacts.
Wireless syncing with standard MS exchange server can be set up with a Dataviz application provided with the handset. In addition, a sync/charge cradle is also included with the P1i handset.
Sony Ericsson P1i being BlackBerry compatible device offers Push email functionality allowing instant email on mobile phone, just like on your home computer. Messages are sent directly to P1i handset as soon as they arrive in inbox at remote POP3 server.
The Sony Ericsson P1i also sports integrated FM radio with RDS and powerful walkman-grade media player supporting wide range of audio file formats including MP3, AAC, AAC+, E-AAC+, WAV and m4a.
Sony Ericsson P1i smartphone comes with a standard Li-Ion 1120 mAh battery which provides up to 4 hours of talktime and up to 410 hours of standby time on full charge.
Weighing about 124 grams, the new P1i handset is quite handy with compact size of 106 x 55 x 17 mm.
